Deion is an amazing dog who was bred by and belongs to Mari and David Hayhurst. Mari and David are extremely knowledgeable long time Dane breeders and exhibitors, and are both AKC judges. Deion brings everything to this pairing: he's got bone, substance, a great front and is nicely balanced. He's a beautiful mover who is sound in body and mind. Lure coursing! In AKC, only sighthounds (Greyhounds, Whippets, Salukis etc) are allowed to attain regular titles in Lure Coursing. However any breed may complete a Coursing Ability Test, and after passing 3 CATs a dog is awarded a Coursing Ability title. Although Danes are not listed among the breeds traditionally used for coursing, this event does test Danes for many of their hereditary skills used for hunting large game. In more practical terms, it helps prove that a dog is sound and athletic.
